Hell Froze Over – All Bikes Racing at Sturgis

Texas Motorcycle Drag Racing has had the honor to be asked and, of course, accepted to host and promote ALL-BIKE DRAG RACING during the 70th Anniversary in Sturgis, SD at the Sturgis Dragway. For 70 years, there has been nothing but Harleys on the track during the Black Hills Sturgis Bike Week which is the second week of August. So when I tell the metric owners/racers about this, they all ask, "Did hell freeze over? Cause I never thought I would see this in my lifetime." Sure enough, TMDR from Texas is opening up all bikes drag racing in die-hard Harley drag racing country.

TMDR has locked in TWO BIG DAYS, AUGUST 10 & 11, 2010 of two big days of pure horsepower that any two wheels can possibly hold. All pros will qualify on Tuesday, Aug. 10th and their eliminations the next day, Wednesday, Aug. 11th. All sport (run-what-ya-brung) bikes will have two days of complete racing with winners and trophies each day. For the PRO CATEGORIES there are Nitro Harley Top Fuel, Harley Pro Fuel, Harley Nostalgia Fuel, Harley V-Rod Destroyer, Harley Top Gas, and Pro Metric (open). We’re working on some hefty guaranteed purses which will be announced soon. For the sportsman racer, we offer 40 plus heads-up for any type of bike built-even ATV and motorized bar stools-which equals trophy for each class winner. We take the winner of each class, ask for their -dial-ins, and the last man standing wins King of the Cash-which equals trophy/money. There are also TWO CLASSES of Bracket ET with dial-ins-winners get money/trophies. TMDR is working on a King of the Streets – you go on an organized ride, fill up on pump gas, spilt up into light and heavy weight classes, draw names out of hat to see whom you race against, and then do a heads-up-last man standing of each class equals King of the Streets-which equals money/trophy.

This is a history making year- Harleys and Metric ALL-BIKE DRAG RACING ON ONE TRACK AT THE BLACK HILLS BIKE RALLY ON THE 70th ANNIVERSAY. Any one can race-bring your streetbike or bagger. However, you need a full-face helmet, jacket, boots (no flip-flops), blue jeans (no shorts), gloves, no oil/gas leaks, and bring "have a great, safe race" attitude. TMDR has no association fees, no politics to race with us…just be aware of this "drag racing addiction"– too much fun may cause too many laughs and smiles. This fungus amongst us has no cure. This is very contagious and it spreads fast-to the next race. What’s it cost to race your sport/Harley bike that you ride to work? Gate $20, race/tech card $20 for each class you want to enter. We keep it affordable for the everyday rider to come play and have cost effective fun. Besides, you have a chance to take home a trophy and up to $1000. Who wouldn’t want to run down Sturgis Dragway this year to just brag that you was there and seen the first metric bike in 70 years be welcome to race.
