1/8 Mile Racing this weekend !!

The crew for this race consisted of Crew chief Sharon Hand, Dick Boxell, Steve Legendre, and Nitro Twin Racer Mike Beland. Chris, and Sharon Arrive at the track early Friday and Steve arrives around 2PM and they have the mobile Redneck Compound set up and in operation by the time I arrive around 6PM, Mike gets there Saturday morning.

Saturday morning qualifying Round 1

We get the bike fired up and ready for the first qualifier The call goes out and we push to the staging lanes. Steve and Mike go down track waiting for Chris to burnout to them , after the last race and lessons learned we pull Chris and the RNE further out of the water box to start the burnout on flat ground, Chris hits it to a good straight burnout

After Steve and Mike get Chris back, I get the heat gun to take tire and track temps, Sharon walks to the starting line to arm the systems just before Chris pre-stages Chris lines up straight and when he launches, the bike darts off the line , makes a little wiggle then motivates down track to a 4.263 @ 180.19 decent first full pass of the year We get the bike back and all cylinders checkout good!

Saturday Qualifying Round 2

We did not make this round because the clutch guy (me) gave Chris bad information, and we removed the clutch , rebuild it and miss the round by about ˝ hour. Probably just as well as all the Top Fuel bike with the exception of Ian King did not improve.

Saturday evening Qualifying Round 3

We get the bike fired up and ready for the last qualifier The call goes out and we push to the staging lanes. We get the bike fired up and roll up to the burnout box Steve and Mike go down track waiting for Chris to burnout to them, again moving Chris out further of the water box Chris hits it to another good straight burnout

After Steve and Mike get Chris back, I take tire and track temps, Sharon arms the timing systems just before Chris pre-stages Chris lines up straight and when he launches, the bike darts off the line better than the previous pass ,straight as an arrow, flames dancing above the deck then about 400 -500 feet we see the belts exit the bike, the front end slams down from the power wheelie, but still runs a 4.243 @ only 141.25 MPH

We get the bike back, replace the belts, perform the leak down and all cylinders are still good, but do not fire the bike, (see below).

‘Race day Sunday Round 1 –

We arrive at the track Sunday morning to get the RNE ready for first round, get it on the ground but when we fire it up it is revving way too high, Chris takes a look and determines that the supercharger got pushed forward on last nights pass, and we missed it during the belt replacement. Procedure, we get the bike back on the lift and get the supercharger re-fitted properly, and re-fire the bike and it sounds good in the non-100 degree weather

The weather forecast is spotty for the day, but holds off for all but the later rounds The call goes out and we push to the staging lanes. Chris’s opponent for this round is his longtime friend Sam Wills We get the bike fired up and roll up to the burnout box Steve and Mike go down track waiting for Chris to burnout to them, Chris hits it to another good straight burnout After Steve and Mike get Chris back, I forget the temp reader leaving it in the golf cart Sharon arms the timing systems just before Chris pre-stages Chris lines up straight and when he launches, the bike moves off the line but just a little lazy, straight as an arrow, pretty much side by side with Sam flames tall and proud from both bikes. They run out to Sam winning the round his 3.933 @ 184.30 to our 4.162 @ 184.9. We get the bike back, perform the leak down and all cylinders are still good! 3 passes and we don’t have to lift a head.

Congratulations to Sam Wills and the Nitro Conspiracy Team on their Win!

We would like to thank the tireless efforts of the Galot team for the excellent facility , and the ability to get in what racing they did . Side note; I was watching the removal of the water from the track from one of the rainfalls and this track had no discernable crown or rise/fall from the start line to the big end.
