Redneck Express Throwdown at T-Town

Tulsa International

Raceway Tulsa Oklahoma October 1-3 2021

This is to be an 1/8 mile event

The crew for this race consisted of Crew chief Sharon Hand, Steve Legendre, Jim Fox, and Dick Boxell, Since the Covid mostly wiped out 2020 we did not run any races that year

Chris has been super busy during the downtime with the high work load at his business, and redesigning the fuel system on the Redneck Express. Chris had two complete powerplants ready for action, with Galahad in the bike.

Friday morning we set up the pit area and ready the bike ,we fire the bike to check for operation of the revamped fuel system, sounds great! First time the Redneck Express had been fired since November 2019

Friday Q 1 , Left Lane

We ready the bike and tow up to the staging lanes. Sharon runs the starter while Fox runs the squirter, start the bike, Chris rolls through the waterbox, Fox Wipes the front tire and Chris does his burnout. Myself and Scott from Mitch Browns crew push the bike back with the direction from Fox . Chris lines up Prestages , Sharon turns on the computer , Chris stages, the lights flash and its on a run to a 4.073 / 195.03 pass not bad for first time out in over a year!

Steve goes and tows Chris back , we blow it out and do the leak down.

ALL good, and the plugs are perfect!

Friday Q 2 , Right Lane

We ready the bike again and tow up to the staging lanes. Sharon runs the starter while Fox runs the squirter, start the bike, Chris rolls through the waterbox, Fox Wipes the front tire and Chris does his burnout. Myself and Nitro Joe from Dave Vantines crew push the bike back with the direction from Fox, I cannot see any direction as the sun is directly behind Fox and I have no Idea of the direction until Ĺ way back . Chris lines up Prestages , Sharon turns on the computer , Chris stages, the lights flash and the chute pops out right after the hit! It runs a 4.24 /180.26 dragging the chute fully open! Steve goes and tows Chris back , we blow it out and do the leak down.

ALL good, and the plugs are perfect again!

Do some investigating after they bring the bike back, and the sheath mount for the chute opening mechanism is out of the bracket. We add a zip tie to the mount to hold the sheath in place.

Saturday E1 , Right Lane

We are scheduled to run Chrisís good friend and chassis builder Sam Wills first round.

We ready the bike for todays elimination runs and tow up to the staging lanes. Sharon runs the starter while Fox runs the squirter, start the bike, Chris rolls through the waterbox, Fox Wipes the front tire and Chris does his burnout.

Myself and Nitro Joe from Dave Vantines crew push the bike back with the direction from Fox, . Chris lines up Prestages , Sharon turns on the computer , Chris stages, the lights flash , the bike get about 60 ft out and I see a huge cloud of clutch dust and the bike hazes the tire, and make a move. Chris shuts it=down and coasts to the turnoff. Sam goes on to round 2! All in all great event plenty of very interested fans who have most likely not seen Top Fuel bikes run in this format. All good comments from them. Great Track great track crew, interesting the difference in track prep for slicks from what we are used to, great bite .

Thank you Todd Martin for the great facility and Mitch Brown for inviting al of us.

Congrats to Mitch Brown And team on the win , making better passes every run!
