Angie Smith knew what to expect Saturday when she qualified 15th in the quickest NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle field in history in the Tire Kingdom Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway – the match against second-place qualifier Eddie Krawiec would be a tough one. And it was.
Smith’s Coffman Tank Trucks V-Twin left the starting line seven-thousandths of a second ahead of him but she couldn’t keep up with him. Krawiec’s win light came on in 6.862 seconds at 195.11 mph to Smith’s 6.982 at 191.13.
“It was a bizarre weekend for us,” Smith noted. “I wish we could have run better during qualifying. Our (Sunday) time was our quickest of the weekend.
“We are going to stay here and test on Monday. We need to step up the tune-up. We know we have good horsepower . . . now we have to show it.”
